Sakura Kinomoto (Lily of the Valley) – Cardcaptor Sakura

Completed: February, 2010

Worn at: Anime Boston 2010, AnimeNEXT 2010

About this Costume:  My 3rd Sakura costume! And probably not last either…  I had wanted to make this costume ever since I started cosplaying, and one trip home to visit my mom, I found a fabric that was very similar to the green on green stripe in the artwork.  The fabric was a green and ivory stripe, so we threw it in some dye and out came the perfect fabric!

The pattern for the top of this costume was actually the same as the Princess Sakura, and the skirt is just a big gathered scallop edged rectangle. I wore a stiff ballet tutu under the skirts to create the bell shape.  I couldn’t find oversized lily of the valley flowers, so I bought some white silk roses and trimmed and shaped them to look more accurate.

Fun Fact, I actually finished this costume in time for Katsucon 2010, stayed up all night working on it, only for our bus to be cancelled due to a huge snow storm so we never made it to the convention. I was super bummed too because I had planned this costume specifically to shoot it at the Gaylord National Resort in there adorable garden areas!
