Come see us at the Alternative Bridal Expo!

Next week, March 5th and 6th, I will be at the Greater Philadelphia Expo Center exhibiting at the first ever Alternative Bridal Expo. The Bridal Expo is part of a bigger Lifestyles show which is going to be awesome as well!  I am mainly excited for this show because it blends my career and my costuming hobby into one awesome show, it will be like attending a Bridal Show which also greatly resembles the Sci-fi/Fantasy conventions that I go to for fun! I look forward to meeting all sorts of new people and making some new connections in the Alternative Fashion scene!

I will also be participating in their Fashion Show, so if you go, not only stop by my booth, but also check out the Fashion Show!

Thanks to everyone who stopped by my booth at the Great Bridal Expo in NYC last night! I met so many great people and I look forward to speaking to you all again!

Melissa GownPreview  from a recent Photoshoot! This is one of my newest designs, a high waisted A-line gown with draped georgette bodice details and handmade bias-cut flowers with crystal centers. Just a reminder, check the events page for full details, but this weekend is New York Comic Con.  I will be on a panel with a few other lovely ladies taking questions about costuming.  If you are attending the convention, I hope you come to our panel!

 Then next Tuesday I will be exhibiting at the Bridal Expo at El Caribe Country Club in Brooklyn, NY.  The show starts at 7pm! If you or any of your friends are getting married you should come see the show!  I will be giving away a Prize Coupon for $300 off the price of a custom gown, but you have to attend the show to enter the drawing! :D

Photo from my sister’s wedding. We recently did a photoshoot of her dress, which I will upload more pictures of soon, but until then this one will have to do! The Gown is made from silk taffeta and all of the bodice details were draped and fluted by hand! design progress

While designing a custom gown for a friend, I was inspired to create a whole new collection that will be added to my catalogue of designs for the bridal shows. I have a few more collections that I need to get down on paper before the shows, the first of which is on October 12th. Eventually, I will have my whole catalogue of available designs online for people to order from. I have also been working on a sample gown that I will be using in my promotional materials and website, but it will most likely be available for sale in November. I am right now working on gown designs for two clients, costume projects for a few of my regular clients, while also busily trying to finish everything for the shows next month! Its going to be crazy this month!

Dragon*Con report!

This past weekend I was in Atlanta, GA for my now annual geek getaway, Dragon*Con. This year ended up actually being very good for my new business ventures as I made many contacts with possible clients and other costumers.  Several of my previous clients were attending as well and between all of us, we gave out probably close to 100 of my cards!  The convention was great all around.  I also won an award for my own new costume, Best Film Adaptation as Eowyn in the Lord of the Rings costume contest!
This next month is chock full of stuff to get done. I have NYCC/NYAF coming up, 2 bridal shows to prepare for, at least 1 gown to make and do a photoshoot of, and a few projects for clients!

Exciting news! Kairi-G Bridal is officially started! This fall I will be exhibiting at a few Bridal expos in the metro NYC and Albany areas to promote my business as a custom Bridal and Evening wear Designer. So far I have one show mostly nailed down and that is The Great Bridal Expo at the Marriott Marquis in Times Square on October 19th.
